Meet our new Mentor Co-ordinator
Meet Fiona, our new Stockport mentor co-ordinator:
Some of you may already know me as I have worked in Stockport with young people in care and care leavers for quite a few years but for those who don’t, hello!
In my previous roles I was responsible for supporting care leavers into EET opportunities, representing young people in child protection conferences, undertaking missing from home return interviews, acting as a Children’s Right’s Officer for young people whose right’s had been compromised, undertook annual foster carer reviews to gather the young person’s views on their placement, coordinated the CiCC and youth council and supported young people to access educational provisions.
Outside of work, I am a partner and Mum to 3! I was a ‘teenage Mum’ who got pregnant at 18… my eldest starts high school in September and my youngest will be starting reception. My eldest son is Deaf and wears a cochlear implant. I am proudly able to use British Sign Language to level 1 standard (I’ll eventually get to level 2!!)
I was raised in a Kinship Care Agreement, firstly by my Nana and then my Auntie in my teenage years and have moved quite a lot during my younger life not really settling until I had a place of my own.
I am a music lover, my all time fave being Eminem! I love spending time with my kids, finding new places to visit and having fun! I’m also part of the PTA at school and coordinate the events for the school fundraising committee.
I’m really looking forward to being part of the Insight family and getting to know you all. I am an open book (sometimes too much!) and am happy to answer any questions you have :) and finally, look forward to meeting you all!
