Have you ever wondered about the role of a Pure Insight Volunteer Mentor?

Have you ever wondered what a mentor might do to support our young people?

Well, one of our mentor coordinators (Fi Insight - I think she loves these posts) has kindly shared what some of the mentors she supports have been up to.

Just another little update on your amazing hard work...

One of our mentors has spent the past year encouraging their young person to feel confident enough to start looking into employment. The past 2 months have been spent encouraging the young person to attend a job centre working group which unfortunately didn't turn out so well due to the negativity of the tutor making them feel quite embarrassed and not really understanding their needs. The ...mentor has then supported their young person to put together an email to explain how that made them feel so it doesn't happen again to others, empowering young people to be heard.... thank you....

One of our mentors has had their mentee's bike fixed for them so that they can get into exercising in the hope that it improves their mental health...it's going to take a little cajoling to actually get them on their bike but without that bike being fixed, there wouldn't be a reason to cajole.... thank you...

One of our mentors has sourced and secured a professional one to one boxing class for their mentee to promote keeping fit and focus their energy into positive activities and is taking them there every week.... thank you..

One of our mentors has picked up and dropped off a young person's daughter from their Dad's so she can have contact with her (Dad lives over 30 miles anyway!).... thank you...

One of our mentors very proudly took their mentee to the care leaver awards in Manchester and also presented an award on Pure Insight's behalf to another young person... thank you...

One of our mentors works relentlessly to find ways to communicate with their mute young person and promotes them being able to have a voice and be heard.... thank you...

One of our mentors met with Andy Burnham, mayor of Manchester to promote changes for care leavers across Greater Manchester and fight for their rights.... thank you...

One of our mentors is arranging our Christmas get together for us.... thank you...

Thank you all for your continuous hard work, dedication and patience! It's certainly not an easy job and with Christmas just around the corner it may very well get harder but you are all amazing and offer so much to our young people so from all of us at Insight, THANK YOU! 😊❤
