I know it's February and Christmas might be a distant memory for some. We are Pure Insight are still talking about it and as promised we wanted to share an update with you all.
Oliver Gardner (who heads up the Christmas festivities for Pure Insight - supported by a huge band of volunteers and supporters) has written this months BLOG:
Christmas day was resounding success!
Christmas for Pure Insight is 7 months in the planning....
We had a steering group of 6 volunteers with roles for gifts, food, wrapping, transport, planning etc
We received 63 confirmed referrals for young people who wanted to attend (including their children)
The event was held at the Together Trust in Cheadle. They kindly allowed us to use their amazing venue on the day
We had many volunteers who picked up our guests and dropped them back home again
The event was set up by a hardcore team of 6 on Christmas Eve
The day itself was made possible by a group of amazing volunteers, 3 in the kitchen, 14 on the ground and our guest were treated to a bacon buttie on arrival and a 3 course traditional Christmas meal alongside games, karaoke, fun and laughter and great company
All guests took home a bag of wonderful gifts all kindly purchased by mostly strangers who responded to our campaign for gifts for care leavers
In addition we received beautiful handmade quilts kindly donated by Quilts for Care Leavers who made quilts personally and individually for all care leavers around the country. They were beautiful and the personalised notes attached to each were so touching and well received
Soft play was available for the little ones too
In addition 200 other care leavers we support were given gifts by our organisation through the generosity of those who donated
and breath..... we will be starting to plan for this Christmas before we know it!
